Warrnambool | A City for Living

Warrnambool Multicultural Association Inc.

The Warrnambool Multicultural Association (WMA) is a not-for-profit community organisation that promotes cultural awareness, celebrates diversity, and strengthens intercultural connections across Warrnambool and South West Victoria. Founded in 2022, WMA was built on a shared belief that everyone deserves to feel welcomed, connected and valued in the community they call home.

We are committed to respectfully engaging with and learning from local First Nations communities, recognising the enduring cultural heritage and contributions of Traditional Owners across the region. We believe intercultural connection is strengthened when First Nations voices and perspectives are respected and included as a central part of our shared community.

As South West Victoria continues to grow, WMA aims to help create a region where people from all cultural backgrounds can participate, contribute and thrive, while also creating opportunities for the wider community to connect through culture, learning and shared experiences.

WMA delivers and supports initiatives that:

  • Celebrate multiculturalism and cultural diversity
  • Create opportunities for intercultural connection and learning
  • Support stronger community inclusion and belonging
  • Amplify the voices and experiences of multicultural communities
  • Partner with local organisations, businesses and community groups
  • Promote positive conversations about diversity and social cohesion

Our signature event is the annual Warrnambool Multicultural Festival, which brings together thousands of community members each year to celebrate culture through food, music, dance, storytelling, workshops and connection. The Festival was awarded Warrnambool’s 2023 Community Event of the Year.

Beyond the Festival, WMA actively develops and partners in programs, events, and community initiatives that create lasting impact for migrant and refugee communities across South West Victoria. We welcome other organisations to support and collaborate with WMA on initiatives that strengthen connection, inclusion, and community wellbeing.
