The Warrnambool Gift is an athletic event run in conjunction with the Victorian Athletic League (VAL).
All participants are handicapped on the times that they can run for a particular distance. This gives all athletes an opportunity to succeed.
Our event attracts approximately 350 – 450 athletes from throughout Australia. The VAL conducts approximately 25 events throughout the season, which commence in October and culminates at Stawell every Easter. The local participation has increased significantly from 2016 where no more than five athletes competed. We have seen a huge increase since then and there are now over forty locals competing on the day.
Our events range from 70m to 1600m involving athletes starting from U14’s to veterans. Our two main events are the Warrnambool Mens Gift 120m and Warrnambool Womens Gift 120m.
Most of our events are sponsored by local businesses whose support is invaluable.
Our event helps improve the mental, physical, and social wellbeing of community members by providing opportunities for physical activity and participation. It’s an Athletic Meeting that encourages healthy outcomes, raises the profile and reputation of our city and generates economic gain through accommodation, retail and hospitality. Obesity, heart disease and mental health issues are well documented problems locally and holding this event will improve these outcomes.
We will be running the Tilly Divine Warrnambool Gift over Two Days on Saturday 28th & 29th November 2026 at the Reid Oval, Cramer Street, Warrnambool.
