The Diabetes Resource Centre (DRCI) is a Peer Support organisation for families across the South West who live with Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is a chronic auto immune illness for which there is no cure. It is a condition which individuals live 24/7 with no remission or respite Until the DRCI was founded 5 Years ago there was also no peer support for local regional families. Thus, any family or individual needing peer support would have to travel to melbourne. Each Year we offer: Family Camp, Siblings Day, Members BBQ, Regular Peer Support evenings, Information/Education seminars and education within our schools.'One Walk - which raises money for a cure through JDRF. Our Bi Monthly Newsletter provides up to date with local happenings and information from the leading bodies in diabetes as well as Individual Type1 profiles. We work in conjunction with local Diabetes Educators at SJOG hospital and SWHC as well as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Diabetes Australia/Victoria (DA VIC) Our families come from as far as Portland, Hamilton, Timboon Camperdown and Colac.
