Warrnambool East Primary School is innovative and aspirational and has become a highly regarded Specialist Science Primary School with a rich and diverse inquiry curriculum and robust and sustaining partnerships with Deakin University, Melbourne Zoo and Victoria University. The Warrnambool East P.S. school community is immensely proud of its school and its contribution to the developing lifelong learners and active and generous citizens.
The school has meticulously maintained grounds and buildings, with recently refurbished learning spaces and playgrounds.
Our world is rapidly changing and our schools hold tight to those things that should stay the same and be discerning about those things that need to change. Our School Values of Respect, Caring, High Expectations, Trust and Honesty will not change, but our curriculum and how we teach is changing, as we grapple with the knowledge explosion and the advances in technology. To provide our children with an education that is relevant and will equip them to navigate this century, as well as being literate and numerate, we work together to ensure our students have effective personal and communication skills, are able to work independently and as part of a team, are able to think for themselves and to be creative and significantly and most importantly for future success, they are confident with and competent with digital technologies. At Warrnambool East P.S. our students have the opportunity to excel and to share their achievements globally through personal access to digital devices, innovative teaching and rich assessment tasks. During 2014 Warrnambool East Primary School was one of 70 Australian Schools and 200 globally selected to participate in a three year global research project -New Pedagogies for Deep Learning. This Strategic Plan has been developed with scope to integrate this eminent research project into our improvement agenda.
At Warrnambool East Primary School we recognize that a great school isn’t just about academic achievements;
• it’s about curiosity,
• it’s about creativity,
• it’s about engagement in a broad curriculum,
• it’s about friendship, it’s about young children living and working together in harmony,
• it’s about fun,
• its about embracing new opportunities,
• it’s about developing open and enquiring minds in a changing world.
Warrnambool East P.S. is a school that understands that ‘what matters most’ in achieving these outcomes is quality teaching, supported by strategic professional development in an inviting well-resourced environment and inclusive school community.
