Portland Citizens Brass Band is a community band that has been providing entertainment to the Glenelg shire since 1858.
All ages and abilities are welcome.
Alongside the main Band, we are currently offering tuition through the bands training program "the new recruits" and the full band. Playing at many official functions, the band also enjoys playing at concerts and competitions.
The band consists of all brass instrumentation: cornets,tenor horns,euphonium,baritones,trombones,basses and a complete percussion section: drums/kit ,timpani,and tambourine/triangle shakers etc.
The brass band also march in parades and this is another fun skill to learn.
Current membership (34) ranges from 8 year old to 80+ .
Non playing members are also more than welcome as there are many jobs that are hard to do when most members are rehearsing/performing eg. preparing suppers etc at events.carting/packing equipment (roadies).
All tutors in the Recruits program are qualified music teachers and teach free of charge
