Portland Field Naturalists' Club

Overview

1. a) to enjoy and foster an interest in the natural world.
b) to arrange and attend meetings, outings, campouts, seminars, workshops and any functions of any nature, for the purpose of furthering such interest.
c) to provide a medium for members to learn about and exchange information in all aspects of natural history.
2. To organise and assist in the conservation of forests, seashores, riverbanks, road verges, and/or any other part of the natural environment and to arrange or assist in tree planting, reforestation, re-establishment of native flora and fauna, and works of a like nature.
3. To conduct and/or participate in any surveys of native flora and fauna, and to assist any Government department, ornithological, botanical, or other club or group, in the compilation of survey data.
4. a) to publicise and disseminate any material consistent with the above aims.
b) to encourage in the community, an understanding and appreciation of nature.
c) to arrange, or join with any group in arranging fund-raising, or any other activities to assist in the Club's stated objectives.

Major Events

*Celebrating forthcoming Club's 70th Birthday (2015). *Monthly meetings: 4th Wednesday of each month (except December & January) Scots Hall, Tyers St., Portland 7.30pm. *Weekly Wednesday morning Walks to various local destinations. (Meet at the Dive shop, 14 Townsend St., Portland @ 9am.) *Post-meeting Sunday all-day excursions.
