Portland & Far South West Poultry Club services the southeast of South Australia and south west Victoria.
Annual shows and poultry auctions are held which attract entries from as far away as Penola in the west, Horsham in the north and Terrang in the east. Club meetings are held three monthly, on a Sunday.
Membership fees are adults $15 or a couple or family $25, juniors (under 16) and Life Members free.
Incentives for joining and attending regular meetings include bulk food and treatment purchase opportunities.
The club produces four newsletters annually and keeps a Facebook page which is very popular.
Each February, the club assists in the running of the poultry and game section of the Tyrendarra Show. The club also offers education and information to the Glenelg Shire community. The club is welcoming of families and promotes healthy lifestyle. Education is offered during meeting workshops on worming and parasite control, hygiene, grooming and preparing for show, stewarding and judging, incubation and breeding.
