South Coast Drag Racing Association

Overview

Portland’s Fuchs South Coast Raceway is Victorias only purpose built Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) sanctioned track. We are Victoria's newest Drag Racing facility and continuously being upgraded every year. We set out to build and maintain a dedicated 1/8th Mile drag strip in Portland and the facility was officially opened in February 2006. Since then we have built a reputation and the best little drag strip in OZ.

We believe we have Australia’s best 1/8th Mile ANDRA Accredited Drag Racing facility. We reach 10,000’s of local, country and metropolitan competitors and spectators at every event from all over who come and visit our track every season.

The track is nationally accredited by our governing body ANDRA, and we are always working toward higher track standards each season. We run Group 2, 3, and 4 vehicles every race meeting and our club prides itself on presenting high quality racing. These vehicles include Street, Super Sedan, Super Gas, Blown Outlaws, Dragsters, Funny Cars, Altered’s, Bikes all the way up to the World’s fastest sedan’s Top Doorslammers.

In a very short time we have exceeded all our expectations of what we could achieve as a drag racing facility and community based sporting organisation. In 7 years we have cemented our position as the premier country drag racing facility in Australia, with competitors and spectators from all over Victoria and interstate coming to participate at our events every season.

We are a completely self funded locally run track and a non profit organisation. Everything we have can be contributed to local organisations and businesses through donations, sponsorship and the complete dedication of our club members. Through the support from our great sponsors the club can take continue the promotion of the Fuchs South Coast Raceway, Portland and the Glenelg Shire.

Over the past 8 years we have supported other charities and community groups in our area including St John's, Heathmere & Portland Fire Brigades, SES, Portland Bay Rotary, Lions. One of our most successful fund raises has been the Drags for Wishes event which has raised more than $29,000 directly for the Portland branch of the Make-A-Wish foundation. This single event grew into the Slamfest for Wishes which for the last three years running has attracted over 4500 people into Portland on the first weekend in February.

Another major success story for our club was achieved in January 2013 when Portland held the first ever ANDRA National Championship event at a regional drag track in Australia. This was the most regionally significant drag racing event ever, with over 160 race teams from all over Australia racing at Portland for National Championship points. This was also the first time in 10 years that an ANDRA National championship round has been run in Victoria.
