Casterton Vice Regal Band

Overview

We aim to provide all community members with an opportunity to enjoy music - whether as a player or as entertainment.
Our members come from all areas of the community and range in age, from Eight year old learners, to experienced players in their Eighties.

The band has been made up of multiple family members over its 146 year history. Some of these names include the Holmes, Cottier, Kelly and Elmes families. Several members have gone on to have a professional career in music.

We offer tuition for anyone wishing to take up an instrument. Instrument and learner booklets are provided along with a mentor who is a senior playing member of the band. A new learners program is planned for 2019 and will be advertised within the local newspaper as well as in school newsletters.

We also welcome the support from community members who may wish to join the band with a social membership rather than as playing members.
Community members who have played instruments and wish to take it up again, as well as those who have never played but would like to try, are most welcome to come along to rehearsals on Monday nights;
from 7:00 - 8.30pm.
Instruments, uniform and tuition are provided for a minimal fee.

We seek, and provide, playing support from other bands in the district on various occasions whether it be fundraising concerts, workshops or pleasant Sunday afternoons.
We have regular commitments within the community and are available to play at different occasions upon request.

We were also honoured to be awarded with the Glenelg Shire Community Group of the Year award for 2015.
