The Warrnambool Computer Group Inc. was formed in 1994 with the purpose of helping each other to understand computers. Over the years the concept has changed in that the primary goal now is to help and educate adults who did not grow up with computers.
We meet at the Archie Graham Centre, 130 Timor St Warrnambool at 2.45 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month except December.
The majority of members are either those whose children have said "Here is my old computer for you to learn on", or those who have decided that they want to try to keep up with the changing computer world.
The group has approximately 40 members and a typical meeting night covers a wide variety of subjects ranging from the simple to the complex.
The night begins with questions and answers. Laptops and tablets (Windows, Android and Apple) with screen and projector are used on the night to do the presentations. The Internet is also available to download or view necessary information.
We encourage members to do presentations on subjects that they enjoy. We also invite guest speakers to do presentations at the meeting to further our knowledge.
After the meeting we enjoy supper and a chat, where everyone catches up with each other and shares information.
The Archie Graham Centre also runs computer classes for the public daily. Three members of the Group volunteer their time on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to teach a wide range of subjects. They also spend time doing special presentations on a Friday that are organized within the centre. These sessions are for the public of any age to attend.
Our group helps the older generation with their computer needs and learning skills for Microsoft, Apple & Android products.
