Basalt to Bay Landcare Network

Overview

Our Mission: We connect the Moyne and Warrnambool communities to promote, conserve, restore and recreate an ecologically sustainable and economically viable natural environment.

1. Inspire, lead, educate, & support landholders, Landcare and community groups through linking them to resources and building community collaboration

2. Showcase and celebrate the achievements of individuals, Landcare, and local groups in natural resource management.

3. Secure investment for strategic projects and facilitation.

4. Facilitate on-ground projects which improve biodiversity, habitat connectivity, and assist landholders to increase productivity and land health.

WE are always keen to connect with people who have skills in Natural Resource Management, farming, science. Much of our work is voluntary and diverse. Check out some of our former projects on Youtube.

Major Events

Much of our work is with farmers on their land. So there are small volunteering events available to help farmers get their trees in the ground. If you'd like to be on the volunteer call-up list for this, get in touch. Bird Life Warrnambool does a twice yearly bird survey along parts of The Green Line between Minhamite and Warrong. If youd like to join in with this survey at some time, get in touch. We undertake spring and summer flora and fauna surveys in reserves across the Moyne Shire. Often they are just going to a site and carefully walking through looking for emerging orchids, wildflowers and dodging snakes! If you'd like to join in and learn plants while also helping survey - get in touch. We make a lot of seed bombs using seed collected around the local area in our project sites. This is a roving target since some seasons are early/late. If you'd like to come along and help us collect seed to be used for seed bombs - then get in touch. Summer and Autumn are key times for this.
